Aaron Judge continues to make MLB history.
The New York Yankees’ superstar outfielder has done something no player has ever accomplished before the All-Star break.
Judge’s combination of 119 hits and 33 home runs through July 7 represents uncharted territory for pre-break production, according to OptaStats’ Greg Harvey.
The 6-foot-7 slugger still has a handful of games to pad that record before the break, too.
There’ve been more homers before this point in other seasons. There’ve been more hits. But never by the same player in the same season.
Those counting stats are driving a .360 batting average and an absurd 1.202 OPS.
Judge’s hit breakdown tells the story: 33 homers, 21 doubles, two triples and 63 singles. That’s power and contact working together at an elite level.
His career-high batting average was .322 last season, so he’s on pace to shatter that mark.
He’s also working on career-best numbers in on-base percentage (.468) and slugging (.734).
It’s been another remarkable season for Judge, and we’re barely past the halfway point. He’s got plenty of time to keep rewriting the record books.
