Boston’s Marathon Weekend wraps up with the traditional Patriots’ Day game Monday, as the Red Sox host the White Sox for an early morning first pitch at Fenway Park.
This uniquely Boston tradition gives fans a special opportunity: cheer on the Red Sox, then head over to Boylston Street to watch marathon runners cross the finish line. It’s one of sports’ most distinctive doubleheaders.
The Red Sox will wear their special “Boston” home jerseys to mark the 12-year anniversary of the 2013 Boston Marathon. The American Flag will drape over the Green Monster during pregame ceremonies, continuing a poignant tradition that began after the 2013 bombing.
Walker Buehler gets his first Patriots’ Day start for Boston. The right-hander is coming off his strongest outing in a Red Sox uniform, allowing just two runs over five innings in his previous appearance. He’s still finding his footing after signing with Boston this offseason.
