Tanner Scott predicted to make Dodgers World Series roster

Tanner Scott predicted to make Dodgers World Series roster image

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays will finalize their World Series rosters today, with Game 1 set for tomorrow. One of the biggest question marks for the Dodgers is whether they’ll activate reliever Tanner Scott, who’s missed the last two playoff series.

Scott underwent a procedure to clear up an abscess and was pulled from the NLDS roster before Game 3. He hasn’t appeared since.

But manager Dave Roberts hasn’t closed the door on a World Series return.

DodgersNation.com released their latest roster prediction and included Scott in their bullpen projection:

“Relief Pitchers (9): Roki Sasaki, Blake Treinen, Emmet Sheehan, Ben Casparius, Clayton Kershaw, Jack Dreyer, Anthony Banda, Alex Vesia, Tanner Scott”

Nothing’s official yet, but if Scott’s procedure went smoothly, he should be fully rested and ready to contribute. The timing could work in his favor.

Matchup Considerations

The Blue Jays present an interesting challenge for Scott’s potential usage. Their lineup is loaded with right-handed bats like George Springer, Bo Bichette, Alejandro Kirk, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

That heavy right-handed presence might push Roberts toward his right-handed relievers in high-leverage spots. Scott’s a lefty, which could limit his opportunities against Toronto’s core hitters.

The way I see it, Scott’s inclusion would be more about depth and specific matchups than regular usage. But having him available gives Roberts another weapon, especially if the series goes long.

We’ll know for sure once the Dodgers submit their roster before first pitch tomorrow.
