The Chicago Cubs held a private reunion celebrating the 10th anniversary of their 2016 World Series championship.
Kris Bryant wasn’t there.
According to The Score Chicago, the Colorado Rockies denied Bryant permission to attend the event. That’s a bit of a gut punch for a guy who fielded the final out of that championship run.
What makes this sting more is that other active players like Javier Baez and Kyle Schwarber were there. So it wasn’t a blanket policy against current players – just Bryant who got the no.

The Rockies apparently had grounds to block this because the reunion was tied to the Cubs’ annual offseason convention. Most teams run these fan conventions now, and there’s an argument that having a rival player show up could be awkward.
Some fans pointed out it’d be weird to have a Rockies player at a Cubs convention. Fair enough.
But from what we’re hearing, there was also private time just for the 2016 championship team. That’s where this gets frustrating for Bryant and Cubs fans.
Let’s be honest – Bryant isn’t exactly carrying Colorado right now. Injuries have basically stalled his career, and he’s a shadow of the player who once dominated at Wrigley.
The Final Out
But here’s what matters to Cubs fans: Bryant was the guy who fielded that groundball for the final out before firing across to Anthony Rizzo. That throw ended a 108-year curse.
That moment belongs to Chicago baseball history. It’s bigger than current team politics or convention logistics.
The way I see it, denying Bryant the chance to celebrate with his championship teammates feels pretty short-sighted. These reunions don’t happen often, and the guys who broke the curse deserve to be together for it.
