Red Sox, Yankees Resume Rivalry in Spring Training Showdown
Baseball’s most storied rivalry gets an early 2025 preview Monday afternoon when the Red Sox host the Yankees at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers.
Boston’s coming in with fresh momentum after their offseason moves. They’ve added Alex Bregman through free agency and traded for Garrett Crochet, signaling they’re serious about competing this year. Tanner Houck gets the start – he’s looking to build on what was easily his best season, when he posted a 3.12 ERA across 178.2 innings in 2024.
The Yankees lineup has a different look this spring. They’ve brought in former MVPs Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt to help fill the Juan Soto-sized hole in their offense. So far, so good – both players got hits in Friday’s spring opener, with Goldschmidt ripping an RBI double in his first Yankees at-bat.
On the mound for New York, Carlos Carrasco makes his Yankees debut. The veteran righty’s looking for a fresh start in pinstripes.
