Phillies Star Bryce Harper Performs Gender Reveal During At Bat

Phillies Star Bryce Harper Performs Gender Reveal During At Bat image

Bryce Harper revealed he’s having another boy during Monday night’s game, using a special blue bat for his first at-bat against the Giants.

The gender reveal was coordinated by teammate Trea Turner, who arranged for the custom blue bat to be ready for Harper’s plate appearance. While the moment was special, Harper’s night at the plate wasn’t as memorable – he went 1-for-5 with a strikeout in Philadelphia’s loss to San Francisco.

This will be the fourth child for Bryce and his wife Kayla, and their second son. The Harpers are already parents to 5-year-old Krew Aron, 4-year-old Brooklyn Elizabeth, and Kamryn Ray, who turns one this month.

The bat reveal brings some balance to the Harper household, evening the boy-girl count at two apiece.

Harper isn’t the first athlete to get creative with a gender reveal this year. Lakers guard Austin Reaves used his shoe color during a game earlier this season to make a similar announcement. These personalized moments give fans a glimpse into players’ lives beyond the field and court.

It’s a trend we’re likely to see continue as athletes find unique ways to share their family news through their sports.
