Four walk-off home runs in one night? That’s the kind of baseball magic you don’t see very often.

Friday delivered exactly that, with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, and Colorado Rockies all ending their games with walk-off blasts within hours of each other.

Bryan Reynolds got things started for Pittsburgh. The Pirates trailed Minnesota 5-4 when Reynolds stepped up with a runner on base in the ninth.

One swing later, they’re walking off as 6-5 winners.

The White Sox followed suit in extras. Miguel Vargas answered after the Twins took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th, crushing a two-run homer for the 4-3 victory.

About five minutes later, MJ Melendez delivered for the Mets. Tied 7-7 in the 10th, Melendez launched his first career walk-off hit – a two-run shot that gave New York the 9-7 win.

That’s three walk-offs in rapid succession. But the night wasn’t done.

Ezequiel Tovar capped off this wild evening. The Rockies were down 6-3 entering the bottom of the ninth against San Francisco when Hunter Goodman tied it with a three-run blast.

Three batters later, Tovar ended it with a two-run homer of his own.

The fourth walk-off hit of Tovar’s career turned into the perfect ending to one of those nights that reminds you why baseball’s still pretty special.
