MLB insider reveals odds Giants trade Rafael Devers Matt Chapman & Willy Adames image

The San Francisco Giants are having a rough 2026 season, and watching Kyle Harrison dominate for the Milwaukee Brewers isn’t making things any easier. That’s especially true when you consider Rafael Devers has struggled since joining the Giants.

But Devers isn’t the only big bat going through it right now. Willy Adames and Matt Chapman are both scuffling too. With the way things are trending, this team looks like a clear trade deadline seller.

The question is whether the Giants would actually move any of their big-ticket players. MLB insider Robert Murray of Fansided.com broke down the realistic chances of all three sluggers getting dealt, and the answer won’t shock anyone.

“Devers would draw interest, but the remainder of his 10-year, $313.5 million contract that runs through 2034 complicates things and lessens the pool of potential interested teams. I struggle to see any team giving the Giants what they’d want to move Chapman or Adames.”

That’s the reality facing San Francisco right now.

Sure, the Giants might be sellers at this year’s deadline. All three players could theoretically be made available. But the odds of actually moving them? Slim to none.

Not many teams can absorb contracts of this size, especially for players who aren’t performing up to expectations. Even if they could, the Giants’ asking price would likely be too steep for most interested clubs – assuming there are any.

As Murray put it: “I have a hard time seeing any of these three players changing teams at the deadline.”

It makes sense when you think about it. Expensive contracts attached to struggling veterans don’t exactly make for attractive trade targets. Teams want production with their investment, not question marks.

Barring some kind of stunner, all three of Devers, Chapman, and Adames are probably sticking around in San Francisco through at least the rest of 2026. The Giants will have to hope they can turn things around rather than relying on the trade market to fix their problems.
