Steve Cohen must be feeling pretty good about things right now.

The New York Mets owner just watched his front office pull off one of the most aggressive weeks in recent memory. After months of quiet moves and growing concerns about their offseason approach, the Mets suddenly shifted into overdrive.

Three massive moves in seven days. That’s how you change the narrative.

It started with Bo Bichette, the former Blue Jays shortstop who’s now wearing orange and blue on a three-year, $126 million deal. The contract includes opt-outs after each season, giving Bichette plenty of flexibility while the Mets get a proven bat who’ll likely slide over to third base.

Then came Tuesday night’s blockbuster. Luis Robert Jr. is heading to Queens after the Mets worked out a deal with the White Sox for the toolsy centerfielder. Robert fills a glaring hole the Mets have been trying to patch for over a year now.

But David Stearns wasn’t done yet.

Wednesday brought the biggest prize of all: Freddy Peralta from Milwaukee. The right-handed ace gives the Mets the front-line starter they desperately needed after last year’s rotation struggles contributed to their epic collapse.

Cohen couldn’t help but celebrate on social media after watching his team land three impact players in rapid succession:

The timing makes sense when you consider where the Mets were just a week ago. Fans were getting restless about the quiet offseason, especially after watching the team miss the playoffs following that late-season collapse.

Through November, December, and most of January, the Mets had been operating more like a team in maintenance mode than one trying to bounce back from disappointment. The lack of activity was becoming a story itself.

That’s what makes this week so significant. Stearns and his front office didn’t just make moves – they made statement moves. Each acquisition addresses a specific need while adding the kind of talent that changes expectations.

Sometimes patience pays off. The Mets waited for the right opportunities, then struck decisively when they came available.

Now they head into spring training with a completely different look and renewed optimism. Not bad for a week’s work.
