Hot Corner Showdown: Bregman, Ramirez Headline Red Sox-Guardians Friday Night Clash
Two of baseball’s elite third basemen take center stage Friday night when the Guardians host the Red Sox in Cleveland.
Alex Bregman is quickly proving he’s worth every penny of the three-year, $120 million contract he signed with Boston in mid-February. The two-time All-Star entered Wednesday hitting .302 with an .897 OPS and leads the team with 19 RBI. His transition to the Red Sox has been seamless after spending his entire career in Houston.
On the other side, Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez continues to be the engine that drives the Guardians’ offense. The six-time All-Star had five home runs and an .823 OPS heading into Wednesday’s action. It’s just another typical start for Ramirez, who’s been the cornerstone of Cleveland’s lineup for years.
Friday’s pitching matchup features right-handers Tanner Houck and Ben Lively. Houck is coming off a solid outing against the White Sox on Sunday, allowing just two runs over six innings. Lively was even better in his last start, shutting out the Pirates across 5.1 innings last Saturday.
