The Cleveland Guardians haven’t announced anything yet, but fans are reading the signs that catching prospect Cooper Ingle might be heading to the majors.
It started with this observation from Adam Hintz on X:
“Cooper Ingle was just removed after getting his second straight hit. He advanced to 2nd on a walk to Dom Nuñez and walked off the field after a discussion. Did not seem to be limping or favoring anything.”
That’s exactly how teams pull guys from games when they’re getting promoted.
The timing makes sense too. Cleveland’s about to hit the road, so if Ingle’s coming up, they’d need him traveling with the team.
The Catching Situation
Right now the Guardians have Bo Naylor and Austin Hedges behind the plate. Here’s the thing – they’re 9-0 when Hedges starts, but Naylor’s struggled early this season.
That’s where Ingle comes in. The 24-year-old is a top-100 prospect who was drafted in the fourth round out of Clemson back in 2023. This would be ahead of schedule, but he seemed likely to get a shot at some point this year anyway.
And he’s been scorching hot at Triple-A – hitting .355 with four homers and posting a 1.357 OPS in the early going.
The question now is how Cleveland would clear roster space, but that’s just logistics they’ll figure out.
Guardians fans are definitely watching the transaction wire closely. There’s plenty of excitement about seeing what Ingle can do at the big league level, especially with the way he’s been swinging the bat.
