The Philadelphia Phillies remain quiet this offseason following their 95-win campaign and National League East title in 2024.

The team’s first division championship since 2011 ended with a National League Division Series loss to the New York Mets.

Tommy Kahnle could strengthen the Phillies’ bullpen, according to Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter. The former Yankees reliever posted a 2.11 ERA with 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings across 50 appearances in 2024.

“The Phillies have replaced Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estevez with Jordan Romano and Joe Ross so far this offseason, and while Romano was one of the more appealing buy-low bullpen arms on the market, he was non-tendered for a reason after struggling to a 6.59 ERA in 15 appearances during an injury-plagued campaign. Signing Kahnle would add another veteran arm in the late innings,” Reuter wrote.

Kahnle, 35, finished the 2024 season with an 0-2 record and one save for New York. The right-hander specializes in high-leverage situations.

His career includes stints with:
• Colorado Rockies
• Chicago White Sox
• Los Angeles Dodgers
• New York Yankees (two terms)

The Phillies’ bullpen needs reinforcement after losing Hoffman and the likely departure of Estevez. While Romano and Ross fill those spots, Kahnle’s addition would provide experienced depth for late-inning situations.

Philadelphia enters 2025 as a World Series contender despite their quiet offseason. The front office continues evaluating options to strengthen the roster.
