The Giants are seeing signs of life from Rafael Devers after a brutal start to the 2026 season had some wondering if his trade from Boston was cursed.
Devers homered Monday night against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, and it’s part of a hot streak that’s got San Francisco feeling better about their big investment.

That’s a .353 average with a 1.135 OPS over his last 11 games. He’s feeling so good he’s showing off swagger even when he draws a walk.
It’s a huge development for San Francisco’s season and their long-term outlook. When they acquired Devers, the deal looked like it could be a steal if he maintained his hitting ability over the decade he’s under contract.
But if Devers couldn’t stay productive? The Giants would be stuck with a massive contract that’d be nearly impossible to move.
This surge doesn’t guarantee Devers is fixed for the next bunch of years, but it’s way more encouraging than what we saw earlier this season. The guy was always such a natural hitter in Boston that it seemed hard to believe that skill would just disappear.
On the flip side, San Francisco’s got a pitcher-friendly ballpark, and Devers doesn’t exactly have the body type that typically ages well.
There aren’t any guarantees here. But for the Giants, seeing Devers get locked in like this has to feel pretty good right about now.
