Dodgers, Cubs Kick Off Spring Training Thursday in World Series Champions’ First Action
The Dodgers will take the field for the first time as defending champions when they host the Cubs Thursday at Camelback Ranch, launching MLB’s 2025 Spring Training schedule. It’s an early preview of the Tokyo Series matchup that’ll open the regular season next month.
Los Angeles enters camp somehow even stronger than the group that dominated their way to a World Series title last October. They’ve added Blake Snell and Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki to what was already baseball’s most imposing rotation.
All eyes are on Shohei Ohtani as he works his way back to two-way stardom. The NL MVP threw his first bullpen session Saturday, a key milestone in his recovery from UCL surgery and a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder.
The Cubs didn’t make the playoffs in 2024, but they’re built to contend now. They landed one of the offseason’s biggest prizes in Kyle Tucker, who joins a dangerous lineup. Their rotation looks solid with Japanese lefty Shota Imanaga leading the way.
