The Dodgers are heading overseas to start the MLB season for the second straight year, but they’ll have a new opponent and destination in 2025.
After opening the 2024 season in South Korea against the Padres, LA will travel to Japan next March to face the Cubs in a two-game series. It’s a matchup that showcases some of MLB’s biggest Japanese stars.
The Tokyo series features a perfect storm of Japanese talent. The Dodgers’ roster includes Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Rōki Sasaki, while the Cubs counter with Shota Imanaga. MLB has already announced the pitching matchups, with Imanaga facing Yamamoto in the opener and Sasaki taking the mound for game two.
American fans will need their coffee ready. Both games at the Tokyo Dome will start at 6:10 a.m. ET, creating an early morning baseball experience for viewers in the United States.
