Miguel Rojas is sticking around Los Angeles for one more season, then he’s staying put in a new role.
The Dodgers brought back their clutch veteran infielder on a one-year, $5.5 million deal for 2026, which he’s already announced will be his final playing season. After that, he’s transitioning into the front office to work in player development.
ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez broke the news Wednesday night, noting that sources confirmed both the contract details and Rojas’ post-playing plans.
It’s a perfect setup for someone who’s earned himself a permanent place in Dodgers history.
Rojas delivered one of the biggest hits in franchise history during the World Series repeat run. His ninth-inning home run in Game 7 tied things up when the Dodgers were down to their final outs, forcing extra innings before they eventually won the championship.
Not bad for a utility guy who’s never been known for his power.
That’s the thing about October baseball – sometimes the most unlikely heroes step up when it matters most. Rojas ran into one at exactly the right moment and made himself a legend.
The 36-year-old has found his home in Los Angeles, and it’s clear the organization values what he brings both on the field and in the clubhouse. Moving him into player development makes sense – he’s got the experience and respect that young players respond to.
Rojas will get one more season to add to his legacy, then he’ll start building the next generation of Dodgers from the other side.
