The Dodgers aren’t done yet. After winning the 2024 World Series, they’ve been on a remarkable spending spree, and now they’re eyeing another big fish: Alex Bregman.

Los Angeles has already transformed its roster this winter, adding Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki to the rotation, bringing in Tanner Scott to strengthen the bullpen, and reuniting with Teoscar Hernández to boost the lineup.

ESPN’s David Schoenfield thinks Bregman could be next. “Why should the Dodgers stop now?” he writes. “If Bregman can’t find the big deal he wants, the Dodgers might be a surprise fit.”

Bregman’s credentials are impressive. He’s a two-time All-Star, Silver Slugger winner, and just picked up a Gold Glove at third base. In nine years with Houston, he’s hit .272/.366/.483 and knows what it takes to win it all.

The price tag won’t be small. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman predicted a seven-year, $170 million deal. But with Bregman still on the market, there’s a chance he’d consider a smaller deal to join baseball’s newest superteam.

What makes this interesting is the Dodgers’ flexibility. Max Muncy’s free agency looms after 2025, and his high strikeout rate is a concern. Hyeseong Kim looks more like a utility player than an everyday second baseman. Bregman could play both positions, filling in where needed before potentially taking over for Muncy in 2026.

The money’s there too. The Dodgers will shed $49.5 million after this season when Muncy, Chris Taylor, Michael Conforto, and Miguel Rojas come off the books. Their pitching staff is locked in for years, giving them room to spend on the infield.

Adding Bregman would fix the lineup’s only real weak spot. Muncy’s batting just .232 through 73 games in 2024, standing out as the lone soft spot in an otherwise devastating order.

They’d probably need to move either Muncy or Taylor to make it work, but that seems like a small price to pay for a player of Bregman’s caliber. The way this offseason’s going, you cant’t rule anything out with these Dodgers.
