The Dodgers aren’t done yet. After landing Blake Snell, they’re eyeing another massive addition – Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals.

Los Angeles has Max Muncy at third base right now, but they’ve got their sights set higher. Earlier this offseason, MLB insider John Denton reported that Arenado had the Dodgers at the top of his wishlist for a potential trade.

Here’s what a deal might look like, according to FanSided’s Zach Pressnell:

  • Dodgers get: Nolan Arenado and $30 million
  • Cardinals get: Bobby Miller

The logic makes sense. The Dodgers have built a rotation that’s stacked for years to come with Shohei Ohtani, Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. That’s not even counting promising arms like River Ryan and Justin Wrobleski in the system, plus Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin waiting in the wings. Miller, despite his potential, might be expendable.

Arenado’s resume speaks for itself. He’s racked up eight All-Star appearances, 10 Gold Gloves, five Silver Sluggers and six Platinum Gloves. The 32-year-old is still producing too, hitting .272/.325/.394 last season. He’s got five years and $144 million left on the eight-year, $260 million contract he originally signed with Colorado in 2019.

As spring training gets closer, the Cardinals might be more motivated to make a move. For the Dodgers, adding Arenado would likely mean either moving Muncy to a bench role or finding him a new home. But thats the kind of “problem” teams dream of having.
