Dodgers $74M lingering injury could be why Andy Pages starts World Series

Dodgers $74M lingering injury could be why Andy Pages starts World Series image

The Dodgers got blown out 11-4 by the Blue Jays in Game 1, and it wasn’t pretty. Their worst performance of October left fans wondering what happened to the team they’ve watched all season.

The Blue Jays came ready to play. The Dodgers didn’t.

Derek Jeter didn’t mince words after the loss.

“Tomorrow is a must-win for the Los Angeles Dodgers. You do not want to go down to a team like this having to win four out of five.”

He’s right. Going down 0-2 in any series is tough, but doing it after getting embarrassed at home? That’s a different kind of pressure.

Pages’ Struggles Continue

**Andy Pages** has become one of the biggest storylines, and not for the right reasons. Manager **Dave Roberts** made it clear before the game that Pages’ lineup spot was on thin ice.

“Dave Roberts says he’s ‘keeping a close eye’ on Andy Pages and has considered making a change if his struggles continue,” Dodgers Blue reported.

Saturday didn’t help Pages’ case. Another hitless game.

“Andy Pages grounds to second and is now 3-40 this postseason. It’s been time for a change,” Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain posted.

**3-for-40** in the postseason. That’s brutal no matter how you slice it.

The Edman Factor

So why hasn’t Roberts made the move yet? It might come down to **Tommy Edman’s** ankle.

“Edman in CF, Call in LF and Kiké at 2B makes way too much sense. I guess Edman’s ankle must still be pretty bad if he can’t be an option in CF.”

That’s the thing – Edman’s been dealing with this nagging ankle injury, and if he can’t handle center field, it limits Roberts’ options. The veteran presence would make sense right now, but not if his mobility is compromised.

The second-year player is struggling at the worst possible time. With their backs against the wall, the Dodgers need production from every spot in the lineup.

There’s little room for error now. If Edman’s ankle keeps him limited, Roberts might be stuck with Pages despite the numbers. Sometimes injuries force your hand in ways that don’t show up in the box score.

The way I see it, Game 2 becomes even more critical. The Dodgers can’t afford another performance like Saturday, regardless of who’s in the lineup.
