The Cubs pulled off a stunning comeback Tuesday night at Wrigley Field, turning what looked like a certain defeat into an 11-10 walk-off win against the Dodgers in extra innings.
Down to their final out in the ninth, Miguel Amaya launched a game-tying home run beyond the ivy walls to knot the score at 10-10. Then in the tenth, Ian Happ wasted no time, driving the first pitch he saw into the outfield to score the automatic runner and send Cubs fans into a frenzy.

The path to victory was anything but straightforward.
Los Angeles jumped ahead 3-0 in the first inning when Tommy Edman continued his surprising power surge with his eighth homer, a three-run blast. The Cubs immediately answered with a five-run outburst in their half, stringing together extra-base hits from Seiya Suzuki, Dansby Swanson, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Amaya.
Andy Pages cut into the lead with a solo shot to open the second inning, but Crow-Armstrong pushed the Cubs’ advantage to 7-4 with a two-run homer in the fifth.
The Dodgers weren’t done. They exploded for six runs in the seventh to take a 10-7 lead, highlighted by Freddie Freeman’s two-run double and a pair of RBI hits from Will Smith, including a home run.
Kyle Tucker’s two-run blast in the eighth pulled Chicago within a run at 10-9, setting the stage for Amaya’s ninth-inning heroics.
Porter Hodge kept the Dodgers scoreless in the top of the tenth, giving Happ the chance to end it with his first-pitch single.
It’s just the latest bit of Wrigley Field magic for the Cubs, who continue finding ways to win in dramatic fashion.
