Like father, like son.
Druw Jones is proving the apple doesn’t fall far from the Gold Glove tree. The Diamondbacks prospect and son of Atlanta Braves legend Andruw Jones made a spectacular catch Tuesday night that had baseball fans doing a double take.
Playing center field for the High-A Hillsboro Hops, Druw tracked a deep fly ball to dead center, timed his leap perfectly, and snagged it with an outstretched glove. The highlight immediately drew comparisons to his father’s defensive wizardry.

The 21-year-old Druw, selected second overall in the 2022 MLB Draft, is working his way through Arizona’s farm system. The Diamondbacks are taking a patient approach with their prized outfielder.
He spent all of 2024 at Single-A Visalia, where he hit .275 with 15 doubles, eight triples, six homers and 21 steals. Now at High-A Hillsboro, he’s batting .270 with three doubles, 12 RBI and seven steals in 2025, though he’s still looking for his first home run at this level.
The elder Jones had already made his mark in the majors by this age, famously homering twice in the 1996 World Series as a 19-year-old rookie. While Druw isn’t on that accelerated timeline, his defensive instincts clearly mirror his father’s.
Andruw went on to win 10 consecutive Gold Gloves patrolling center field for the Braves from 1998-2007. Based on Tuesday’s highlight, that defensive DNA is alive and well in the next generation.
Druw currently ranks as the No. 7 prospect in the Diamondbacks system according to MLB.com. If his glove work is any indication, he’s got the tools to follow in his father’s footsteps – literally and figuratively.
