The Toronto Blue Jays want Bo Bichette back, and they’re not the only ones.
A local steakhouse is now offering the free agent shortstop steak for life if he re-signs with the only MLB team he’s ever known.

“Stay in Toronto,” the letter reads. “We’ll handle dinner, you bring home the hardware.”
That’s a pretty solid pitch.
The whole city seems invested in keeping their homegrown shortstop. Bichette’s one of the two best free agent infielders available this winter, along with Alex Bregman. Neither has signed yet.
What makes this interesting is how complicated Bichette’s market has become. Many teams want him to move to second base rather than stay at shortstop. He’ll probably make that transition eventually, even if he sticks at short for now.
The other top free agent hitters – Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger – are still unsigned too. But none of them are getting offers for free steak that we know of.
From where I’m sitting, this feels like Toronto pulling out all the stops to keep their guy home. The Blue Jays organization wants him back, the fans want him back, and now local restaurants are getting involved.
The question becomes whether Bichette values staying put over potentially better offers elsewhere. If he’s a steak guy, Toronto’s making a compelling case beyond just the baseball side of things.
