The Blue Jays are staring down some tough decisions as the trade deadline approaches, sitting in last place in the AL East at 45-51 and 12 games behind Tampa Bay.
Toronto’s slide has put them in an awkward spot. They haven’t officially declared themselves sellers, but **Jeff Hoffman**, **Shane Bieber**, and **Kevin Gausman** are all drawing interest as potential trade pieces.
“The Toronto Blue Jays dropped their last two games before the break, falling to last place in the AL East,” Caleb Kerney wrote for Heavy Sports. “Several pitchers stand out as potential trade pieces. Jeff Hoffman, Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber, and Patrick Corbin could all be moved for the right price.”
That’s a lot of talent to consider moving.
**Bieber** and **Gausman** represent the toughest calls here. Both guys can flat-out pitch, and you don’t just give away that kind of talent without getting something significant back. The question becomes whether Toronto thinks they’re close enough to compete in 2025 to justify holding onto veteran arms.
**Hoffman** presents a different case entirely. His surface numbers don’t jump off the page, but the underlying metrics tell a more encouraging story. He’s got the stuff to figure things out, and contending teams know it.
From where I’m sitting, if Toronto can land a top prospect or two for Hoffman, that’s probably worth exploring. The other guys? That depends on how committed the front office is to this current core.
All things considered, the Blue Jays have built up enough pitching depth that moving one or two arms could actually help their farm system without completely gutting their rotation. The next few weeks should tell us alot about which direction they’re really heading.
