Ernie Clement continues his left-handed pitching demolition tour, and the Dodgers just became his latest victim.
The Blue Jays utility man crushed a leadoff homer in the ninth inning to give Toronto a 5-4 win at Dodger Stadium, delivering what’s becoming his signature move against southpaws.

Leading off the top of the ninth in a tie game, Clement jumped on the first pitch he saw and sent it beyond the left-field fence. The timing couldn’t have been better for a Blue Jays team that’s shown some real fight lately.
Here’s the thing about Clement and lefties – he entered the day with a .936 OPS against southpaws. That number just got higher.
Toronto had already clawed back earlier in this one. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Addison Barger delivered the tying and go-ahead homers to erase an early deficit. The Dodgers answered back to tie it up, setting the stage for Clement’s heroics.

Clement had also gone deep Saturday night, though that one came with the Blue Jays down big. Apparently kept his swing in a groove for this key spot.

Clement’s having one of those seasons where everything seems to click. He had a five-hit game earlier this week, and now he’s got this clutch bomb on the road at Dodger Stadium.
The lesson here is pretty clear. If you’re thinking about bringing in a lefty to face Clement, you might want to reconsider. He’s made a habit of making opposing managers regret that decision.
