Aaron Judge’s Historic Power Surge Continues

Aaron Judge is off to the best power-hitting start in baseball history.

That’s not an exaggeration.

The Yankees slugger crushed another home run Friday night against the Pirates, his sixth of the young season. He’s also driven in 17 runs through just seven games – a combination no player in MLB history has ever achieved, according to the YES Network.

What makes this run even more impressive is the consistency. Judge’s power display includes a three-homer game on March 29, tying his single-game career high.

Let’s put it this way: if Judge somehow maintained this exact pace for a full season, he’d finish with 139 home runs. That’s obviously not happening, but it illustrates just how dominant his start has been.

The current MLB single-season record is Barry Bonds’ 73 homers in 2001. Judge would need to maintain just half his current pace to challenge that mark. He already holds the American League record with 62 home runs, a number that suddenly seems within reach again.

Friday’s blast gives Judge 321 career home runs – the most ever by a player in his first 1,000 games. That’s where his late start to MLB becomes relevant. Judge didn’t reach the majors until age 24 after playing at Fresno State, which limits his chances of challenging the all-time career leaders.

Judge turns 33 on April 26, but he’s still got a strong chance to reach 500 career homers if he stays healthy. The way he’s crushing baseballs right now, that milestone might come sooner than expected.
