MLB Network dropped their annual Top 100 Players Right Now list, and the Toronto Blue Jays landed four guys on it.
Not bad for a team that came within one game of winning it all last season.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. leads the way at No. 10 – which feels about right for a guy who’s been one of the most consistent bats in the game. That’s elite territory.
George Springer checks in at No. 47, while catcher Alejandro Kirk sits at No. 74. Both solid spots for players who’ve been key pieces of Toronto’s success.
The interesting one? Dylan Cease at No. 100. The Blue Jays just signed the right-hander to a $210 million deal after acquiring him from San Diego, so seeing him sneak onto the list makes sense.
Where’s the Rest of the Rotation?
Here’s where it gets a bit tricky. Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber both have cases for making this list – especially Gausman, who’s been more consistent than Cease lately.
But that’s the thing about these rankings. They’re built for debate.
The Blue Jays probably aren’t losing sleep over who made the cut and who didn’t. After pushing the Dodgers to extra innings in Game 7 of the World Series last year, they’ve got bigger things on their mind.
Four representatives feels about right for a team that’s proven it can compete at the highest level. What matters now is whether they can take that final step and actually win the whole thing.
Individual accolades are nice, but championships are what stick around.
